Wednesday, December 18, 2019
location: Sassafras Saloon (1233 N. Vine Street, Los Angeles, CA 90038)
We are very excited to have our good friend Koray presenting Paul John Distillery. What is very special about this event is that it is also his birthday and we are going all out to make it a memorable one by tasting the entire Paul John core range and many rare, limited edition expressions (including new make straight from the still). This is going to be a killer meeting! Meet us at the front bar in Sassafras Saloon for a welcome cocktail before we head upstairs to learn all about Paul John Distillery.
about the distillery:
Located in Goa, Paul John is a brand of Indian single malt whisky made from Indian malted barley, distilled in traditional copper pot stills, and then matured in charred American oak casks. Maturation takes place in a climate-controlled underground cellar that has around 10,000 barrels. Master distiller Michael D'souza chose to use Indian ingredients to give the whisky characteristics of its country of origin. The wash has a low ABV% which creates a sweeter flavour in the final product. The whisky is put in the casks at 55% ABV, but the alcoholic strength increases as it ages due to the hot and humid climate. The expressions are now available across 38 countries and have won over 200 prestigious international awards. Its sweet and smoky aromatics have made this whisky a favourite among connoisseurs and whisky lovers around the world. Paul John Single Malts have been rated Liquid Gold and the expression Kanya has won Best Asian Whisky Award 2018 by Jim Murray, Whisky Bible. [link]
